Hurricane Sandy took the lives of 53 people in New York and caused $19 Billion in damages for New York City alone in 2012. In response, I organized a benefit concert to directly fund “RSR” (Renegade Sandy Relief) which delivered aid to Rockaway Beach in Queens. The Top of the Standard generously donated their iconic space along with host Mx. Justin Vivian Bond, musical director Thomas Bartlett and performances by some of New York’s most dynamic artists including Sandra Bernhard, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Bridget Everett, Taylor Mac and Lady Rizo. Together we raised $15,000 for RSR.
